Which is?

What are the risk factors?

Obesity and weight gain are significant determinants of insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus insulin_resistance.

Some genetic determinants, but also reflect diet, exercise and lifestyle.

Failure to suppress lipolysis in adipose tissue increases plasma concentrations of free fatty acids, which may alter glucose-stimulated insulin transport and muscle glycogen synthase activity.
